It took minutes just to display a photo I inserted. And it took almost 30 minutes to shut down the app. This is unusable. Is everything on your system, not on a networked drive or roaming profile? I mean: Captivate, Projects and Cache? I just upgraded to and it is painfully slow as I am trying to develop courseware. What is the fix please?!! My videos in the timeline are also very choppy. I have a more powerful Macbook, and it should play no problem. The final videos are playing just fine.
Any suggestions? I created and published a SCORM using Captivate and uploaded it on our LMS. I have received some concerns that few colleagues are either not able to access the course or some of its contents or the course is exponentially slow to load for them. This is fixed when they access the course using VPN. It sounds like there is a network issue here but are there any other insights you can give me?
Network issue? Maybe you refer to the moderation delay? Each post here has to be moderated before being released…. Once the course is uploaded to a webserver or LMS it will just be like a website, no reason why the learners would experience any slowness like in the developing phase, reported by some Mac users not all do have the problem.
A website is a website… whether it was created on Windows or on Mac. Why is it SO SLOW on a MAC? I feel like it is so depressing and nerve-racking that it will make me change my mind about this software and not even continue!
I am new to Adobe Captivate, and because it is SOOO SLOW, it becomes really frustrating to work with it. What a disappointment!
I am a Win user. Just want to check if you installed the patch for CP? The most recent version is Articulate never succeeded to launch a Mac version. What is that, the patch? A lot of Windows software struggle with Macs — Microsoft has the same issue — slow and likes to crash all of a sudden. Did you check the version number, please? It has been 6 years since I never use a slow HDD to install the OS and applications, but it looks like that is not the case for many Mac users.
Have a decent graphics card as well. Captivate needs a lot of resources. What do you mean by the version number? I have a pretty good Mac with lots of storage and big RAM. I am puzzled why it is painfully slow! It is just frustrating and disappointing! You can check the full version number under Help About Captivate. That is the same for about all applications. If you are still on Many Mac users rung Captivate at a satisfying speed.
Do you run the OS and the applications from a SSD? I am honestly just so tired of it. My RAM is 8GB. Storage is GB free. Processor: 3. How much more do you need? I am so deeply disappointed that at this time and age we have software and companies that could not care less about consumers, and we have issues like that. I called Adobe rep and all he did was to blame me that I was picky and could not tolerate the sec lag and it is totally fin to sit and wait for the software to respond.
I spent 10 hours trying to figure it out, and that was the only time I was given to create the entire module — all this time is wasted and no work is done. Extremely disappointed, to say the least!
Well, Adobe just lost a customer, and probably not one but many many more! Adobe fully deleted from my MAC — no going back. I am on a very old desktop at this moment, but start disk is a SSD, have a NVidia graphics card and 32GB of RAM.

I have tried all the suggestions but still getting the second lag the first time I click on any objects. Sometimes Adobe reminds me of General Motors: get a product our as quick as possible with errors and then fix it with recalls, or patches in this situation.
If most users run Captivate smoothly, the problems are mostly with the setup on your system. If evernyone had the same problems, it would be due to the application. I run Captivate on 3 systems, one of them being a very old desktop but with sufficient memory, a graphics card and OS and spps are installed on a SSD desktop 8 years old.
I run it on a Surface Pro with only 8GB of Ram, no graphics card but also from a SSD. Of course it runs quicker on my gaming laptop which is more recent.
Yes, exactly as you describe. I am doing everything local, cleared my cache, but still upwards of 5 seconds to get Captivate to respond. Did you refresh the Preferences? That is even more important than clearing the cache. It is also possible that some themes got corrupted. You are on CP, most recent? It is Which OS? I can only help with Windows. I opened Captivate with no project open. I went through all of the preference pages is that what you mean by refresh the Preferences?
Restarted Captivate It seems to be working like was the last time I used it. BTW, I reported this as a bug on Friday and Adobe Tech support called me yesterday Monday. I missed their call but was impressed that they called me. That is not what I meant. Refreshing the Preferences is done while Captivate is closed. You need administrator rights. Captivate has to be closed. No my the My Documents folder is NOT on network drive, and I am having THE SAME CHALLENGE.
I can barely get any work done like this… should we be looking at competitive products like Articulate Storyline or Lectora??? Because that what I feel like doing… PLEASE advise. Can you please let us know if your user profile is mapped to a network drive? This could be an issue as if your My Documents is on network then it may slow things as Captivate creates Cache under Documents. Mayank…I apologize for the late response.
But, I think the problem was that a number of the items I was deleting had fairly complex advanced actions attached to them. Thanks for your response, it is appreciated despite the tardiness of mine.
Too complicated advanced actions can indeed cripple a course as I have experienced many times during consultancy jobs. I strongly recommend to have a look at replacing advanced by shared actions and reusing variables.
Moreover, maybe you are not aware of the existence of the Advanced Interaction panel F9 which offers priceless information about all actions triggered in your project.
